Denise Lohmiller
This marks my third year as principal of Haun Elementary. It has been a pleasure getting to know our students and families. Each year, we welcome new families to our neighborhood, and I love seeing our community continue to grow.
I grew up in Mesquite, Texas, and after high school, I graduated from Texas Woman’s University. My family and I later moved north to Wisconsin, where I met my husband, John—yes, he is an avid Green Bay Packers fan! We have two beautiful daughters, Megan and Olivia, who have also followed in their father’s footsteps and remain faithful Packers fans. This makes our household a bit divided, as I proudly remain a Dallas Cowboys fan—being a Texas native, of course!
I earned my master’s degree in Reading and my doctorate in Supervision of Curriculum and Instruction. I am deeply passionate about teaching and learning and am committed to ensuring that your children receive an exceptional educational experience.
Before becoming an administrator, I served as a special education teacher, general education teacher for grades 1–6, reading specialist, instructional coach, and district curriculum coordinator. I was also an assistant principal in Rockwall ISD, where I held various roles for 15 years. I began my career in Plano as the Director and Principal of Head Start before joining the amazing Haun Husky family. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, reading, boating, and trying fun new places for dinner.
I look forward to partnering with you this year as we continue cherished traditions and create new ones that make Haun a truly special place to educate your children.

Assistant Principal

Stephanie Overall
Hello! I'm Mrs. McCarty, the Assistant Principal at Haun Elementary School, and it is my pleasure to serve the Haun community.
I'm proud to say I grew up in Plano, attending Wells Elementary School, Schimelpfenig Middle School, Shepton Junior High, and Plano Senior High School receiving an exemplary education from the best school district in Texas. After high school, I attended Texas Woman's University where I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, then a few years later, I obtained a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a Gifted and Talented Texas Endorsement from the University of North Texas. Most recently, I earned a second Masters Degree in Education Administration including my Principal Certification from LAMAR University. Needless to say, I have a love for learning, but even more, I love to share my learning with others!
Throughout my career as an educator, I taught Kindergarten, third grade, and sixth grade as a classroom teacher and have served as an intervention specialist. However, the majority of my years were spent as a gifted and talented specialist. In fact, prior to becoming the assistant principal at Haun, I was the PACE teacher at our school. I've been a part of the Haun community for nearly a decade and to me, it's home. Haun is an inviting place where students, families, and staff feel welcomed.
Outside of school, I enjoy relaxing at home with my husband, Dale, and our Labradoodle, Bailey. Time spent with family and friends playing games, cooking out, or traveling together brings me pure joy.
